Hill Interior was appointed Principal Contractor for South Birmingham College’s Hall Green Campus’s 2011 Summer Works Project. This project had a tight deadline where all contracting companies needed to be programmed so as to allow for a smooth continuity of work. The project started with Hill Interior producing the Construction Phase Plan for the CDM Co-ordinator to approve, once this was achieved site meeting were made and Contractors Information Packs were sent to all companies involved. Site inductions and tool box talks were essential to this project due to the volume of contractors and continually evolving environment. Hill Interior whilst overseeing Electricians, Roofing contractors, and Civil engineers had 2500m2 of existing floorcoverings, 5500m2 of suspended ceilings, 7000m2 re decorating and 3500Lm of partitioning to complete. The works started at the end of the academic term with a complete refurbishment of the two main college buildings, A & C blocks. The programme ran for 10 weeks and as always Health and Safety was extremely important, daily audits were performed by Hill Interiors site foreman and weekly Audits were performed by WA Management our external consultants, this enabled Hill Interior to keep on top of potential problems and rectify existing ones. Towards the end of the contract staff and pupils were onsite so good cooperation signage and barriers were a must especially on enrolment days. The project was completed to the Colleges high standards providing them with a modern, functional and hard wearing environment for their students.
